Lecture 2: Introduction to Your Instructors

The Team Behind the Course

Before you begin the course we would like to take a moment to introduce ourselves so you know who's here to help you out! This course is built by a team of young but very wise and passionate people who care greatly about helping other young and ambitious people figure out their careers.

Denis Luchyshyn - Head Instructor and Video Host

Hi there. I'm Denis, entrepreneur, keynote speaker and creator of the Road to Employment Documentary (www.roadtoemployment.ca). In 2014, I graduated from university and quickly became frustrated with the challenging job market my friends and I faced. This inspired me to launch Road to Employment and set out on a 4 month journey coast to coast across Canada with my best friend Clinton Nellist. Our mission, to find out what it takes to succeed as a young person in this competitive job market and find meaningful, well-paying jobs. I am so proud to share this course with you because it features the most critical career information every single young person needs to know.

Clinton Nellist - Video Host

I graduated from university with BA and like many Arts grads I had a tough time transitioning into the workforce. After 4 hard months of underemployment I eventually found my way into door to door sales and then retail sales at my local mall. Though these jobs helped pay the bills they did not connect with my passions in music and film. In the words of Fleetwood Mac sometimes you have to "Go Your Own Way".

Julia Wi - Instructor

Hello! I’m Julia. I graduated from university with a BA in Psychology and am currently finishing up my M.Ed in Educational Psychology. I’m extremely passionate about education and believe that the best way to learn something is to immerse yourself in it and to make the best out of every experience life presents you with, whether it’s paid or not! It took me almost my entire BA degree and a ton of related/unrelated and paid/unpaid experiences to realize that I was interested in education! The best piece of advice I can give you is to never give up! Even if you feel lost in your career plans, take advantage of every situation you find yourself in until you discover what you’re interested in! It may take time, but it’s definitely worth it!

Geoff O'Brien - Instructor

Hi, I'm Geoff. My goal is to make meaningful work out of helping folks find meaningful work. I try to follow such sage advice as "make it up as you go" and "wherever you go, there you are." I've had experience in Psychology, service, tech, academia, non-trepreneurialism, and dark internet magicks. Every gig along the way has taught me about my likes, dislikes, and never-agains, and driven me to share my humble lessons with others. I believe that we can all find joy and passion in life, and work should be no exception! You can go anywhere you want in life, sometimes you just might need directions.
